Stadium Project Update 3/9/23
Good morning Roughriders!! I’m excited to provide an update on the progress of our stadium project. As those of you who attended the information meeting know, there are a lot of things going on and there’s no way I could possibly capture it all in a single post so I will do my best to make this brief but still give you as much info as possible!
At a project-level, we have hired an architect, including a civil and electrical engineer to plan the project, provide engineering drawings, and submit for permits. In addition the Western Reserve Athletic Boosters is fully committed to seeing this project through to the end with the support of our school board and administration. If anyone has questions, please ask them directly to any booster member or superintendent Will Snyder.
Overall/financial:
Due to very generous donations, both large and small, we had enough money to pay for, and kick off new bleachers. We’re actively continuing to seek and accept donations so we can continue to progress through the rest of the updates outlined below. If anyone is interested in more information regarding donating, please contact a booster member. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit! Look for additional posts regarding donations.
Bleachers
In order to make room for a new 8 lane track both the home and visitor bleachers need to be moved back away from the football field. In doing so, our home bleachers are no longer “grandfathered in” from a compliance standpoint and must be replaced. As nostalgic as they were, the upgrade is necessary for improved safety and ADA accessibility. This process has started! Our old bleachers have been removed, and only the press box remains (for now). The new bleachers and press box will be delivered in June, and installed by the end of July. The home press box will be moved to the visitor side, and the visitor bleachers will be moved back, but not replaced (they are much newer, ADA compliant, and in great condition).
Additional Site Prep & Site Upgrades:
This is forthcoming and will include updated drainage, electric, and site prep work. We will be adding new concrete from the point of entry to both bleachers as well as to the field event locations for ADA accessibility and spectators. Again, this is just a few sentences explaining A LOT of work, and planning.
Track, Fields Events and Finishing Touches:
The track! I can’t wait to see it! It will be Roughrider blue with white lines.✨ In addition to the new track we will be adding new field event locations, fencing around the track and field events, new track equipment, signage to thank our sponsors, and more to finish off the project.
