Sixth graders enjoyed the day at the Cleveland Science Center on Friday. There were many hands-on activities. The favorite seemed to be the radar gun. Look out Coach Good, future pitchers for your team! We are WR!
Recently the 8th graders were able to play in a Sand Box during their 2 hour delay prep for the State of Ohio Science AIR test. This Sand Box is an interactive activity that projects a topographic map onto the sand. As students move the sand around the projected topographic map changes to match the sand. This activity allows students to change the landforms with their hands and see the changes projected on the sand. This activity reinforces 8th grade Earth Science concepts relating to landforms and the changes of landforms according to various geologic processes such as - glaciation, weather and erosion, valley formation, river deltas, mountain and volcano formation due to plate tectonics and other processes. The Sand Box is made available through the Huron County Soil and Water Conservation District Office in Norwalk. Thank you to Chad Stang and office staff for making this available to our students and for bringing the materials to the classroom and setting up the Sand Box. We are WR!
Here are some pictures of the Civilization of Earth build the middle school STEM students are working on this week. Machines must do a variety of tasks such as pump water, cut wood, grind grain, travel over rough terrain, collect solar data from around a corner, and move equipment not only horizontally, but also vertically. We are WR!
Our 6th graders were rewarded for taking their state tests seriously with a fun trip to Ghostly Manor in Sandusky!
Here is the Board meeting agenda for the next meeting on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, in the High School library at 6:00 p.m.
Last Friday, students in Mrs. Mary Ana Hick's high school choir class were notified that Mrs. Deb Henry will be adding middle and high school choirs to her elementary responsibilities in the fall. In addition, Mrs. Hicks will be working with elementary, middle, and band students next year. Dividing the district's music responsibilities along vocal (Mrs. Henry) and instrumental (Mrs. Hicks) lines will enable each teacher to focus more deeply on her craft. Mrs. Henry is "looking forward to the new challenge!" Mrs. Hicks said, "I am excited to be able to team up with Mrs. Henry to create more opportunities for students in the Music Department at Western Reserve. Together, I know we will be able to accomplish great things!" We are WR!
You're invited to help celebrate this very special event. We hope to see you there!
Congratulations to our food service employees on a job well done. We have been awarded the GOLD PLATE AWARD! Huron County Public Health registered environmental health specialists perform a wide variety of public health functions including inspection, regulation and enforcement of public health laws regarding food facilities. The Gold Plate Award is an acknowledgment given to food service establishments that maintain excellent food safety practices. Both our elementary and HS/MS cafeterias earned this honor. We are WR!
