8th grade Academic Challenge team

8TH GRADE WINS!

Academic Challenge Season Gets Extended!

The 8th grade Academic Challenge Team not only competed and represented our community BUT THEY DOMINATED at the Huron County 8th grade contest in Norwalk at the Milestone Event Center on October 26.

This group improved immensely from last year's competition and their first year jitters. It should be noted that a Covid outbreak during their 6th grade season prohibited them from participating in their inaugural season.

The estudious Rough Riders started the competition two points down after the first round. But as the sports analyst might say, it was lights out for the competition for the last 3 rounds. To put it mildly it was a rout with the Rough Riders sitting out the final round with a 15 question lead. After the final question was answered for the day, the competition was only able to close to within 7 questions of our Champions.

Since the first week of school these students committed their Thursday enrichment periods and after school weekly practices preparing for the contest.

This team embraced the motto of "In It to Win It" and were probably also motivated by Mr. Rowlinson's challenge of buying lunch after a win.
With the win; Jaxon, Connor, Garrett, and Mary will be moving on to the Championship of Champions Match on DECEMBER 5, 2023 at the CEDAR POINT ROOM of BGSU FIRELANDS CAMPUS in Huron, Ohio.
First question to be asked at approximately 11:30 am.
Our Champions of Huron county will be competing against the champions of Erie, Ottawa and Sandusky counties at BGSU.
Congrats to this group on a tremendous showing and achievement representing WR!
Please congratulate and give a scholarly pat on the back to the following students.
Good Luck and Go Riders!
