Marching Band Season in full swing!

It's Bandtober, a month to celebrate all the achievements of the Marching Band since the beginning of the season way back in July. The Marching Band students have had a busy few months. First, they prepared for and participated in the Wakeman Fireman's Festival parade in July. They went right into Band Camp in August to get their field shows ready for the start of the Football season in mid August.

Their season began with a show called "Dances you hate to love!" It featured the songs, Let's Groove, by Earth Wind and Fire, Cupid Shuffle, Macarena, and (to show our Western spirit) Boot Scootin' Boogie. The students got to learn a snippet of each dance and perform them on the field. This show was performed August 18th- Sept. 8th, at the Vermilion Band Festival and will be performed at the Edison Band Festival on Oct. 14th.

The second show of their season was dedicated to Mrs. Wetzel, who had been begging Mrs. Hicks for years to do a Beach Boys Show. We are so glad that she did because we were able to add engaging and fun elements to this show. The songs were a mash-up of Gimme Some Lovin' and Surfing USA, California Girls, and Fun, Fun, Fun. The show featured the band wearing flower leis, funky sunglasses, beach balls flying into the crowd, a friendly dancing shark and even an authentic T-Bird!

We had the chance to host our alumni on Sept. 29th and had fifteen alumni perform pre-game with us. They spanned from the graduating class of 1991 all the way up to last year's graduating class of 2023 and represent the work and dedication of eight directors. We look forward to hosting our upcoming Middle School Band students on our next home game on Oct. 13th.

The Marching Band is proud to support our team and our school. We hope you will consider coming to see us perform at the Edison Band Festival on Oct. 14th, at 6pm at Edison High School. We will also be performing with the BGSU Marching Band on Oct. 21st at Bowling Green at their game versus Akron.
