WESTERN RESERVE ENDOWMENT FUND AWARDS SIX TEACHER GRANTS FOR 2010-2011 SCHOOL YEAR

 

     The Western Reserve Endowment Fund is pleased to be able to award six teacher grants for the 2010-2011 school year.  This grant money will be used to purchase the following:

 

·         Video camera, lighting, and wireless microphones to improve the Multimedia class’s video announcements which are utilized by the MSHS and the Norwalk Reflector

·          Dictionaries and Thesauruses to enhance students’ acquisition of vocabulary. Will affect journals, essays, and research papers across the curriculum

·          Whisper Phones to improve language arts achievement in sight words, decoding, and oral reading fluency

·          Capital resource purchases for a business venture to teach students  economics and business skills such as: product assembly, ordering, customer service, accounts receivable, and distribution

·          Purchase of scripts with differentiated texts that the students will use to read and perform plays. Reading and public speaking will increase vocabulary, improve oral and visual communication, word recognition, fluency, and comprehension

·         Hands on materials for exploratory curriculum in electricity, painting, wall paper, drywall, masonry, tile, wood working, shingling, and plumbing

Gayle Kovach - Elementary

Chuck Malone  - Middle/High

Scott Emerick – High

Rachel Stevens – Elementary

Kindergarten Team: Melinda Dalton, Sarah Boss, Wendy McConnell, Amanda Woodrum

Third Grade Team: Kathy Gastier, Shannon Bauman, Lisa Babcock, Stephanie Wetzel

 As our Endowment Fund continues to grow, we hope to award more and larger grants in the future.  Two $1,000 Endowment Scholarships will be awarded in the Spring of ’11!
